7 Fastest Disney World Rides
Disney World is, of course, first and foremost a family theme park. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t enough thrills to go around. We are going to breakdown the top 7 fastest Disney World rides. Let’s start with a fan favorite Test Track AKA the fastest Disney World ride.
Test Track – 65 MPH
Take the ultimate thrill at speeds up to 65 MPH. Test Track is the fastest ride in all 4 Disney World parks. Upon starting your journey, guests build their own car on an interactive screen. Depending on the type of car you build your experience will differ. Once the speed test is complete you’ll see your top speed on an overhead speedometer.
Of course, you won’t hit 65 MPH every single time you’re on Test Track, but this makes it more fun to try again. Either way, you’re going to get the thrill of a lifetime. 65 MPH may not seem that fast, but the speed you’ll experience a thrill with sharp turns and fast takeoffs.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster – 57 MPH
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is the fastest ride in Hollywood Studios. Clocking in at 57 MPH, you will soar through a dark room to the tunes of Aerosmith. Widely considered one of the top rides in Hollywood Studios, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster takes guests on high speed thrills, quick drops, loops, and corkscrews. Not to mention you fly through Steven Tyler’s mouth.
You must be 48″ to ride this high speed thriller.
The Monorail – 55 MPH
Alright, this one might come as a total surprise but the Monorail is the third fastest Disney World ride. While the Monorail isn’t necessarily a thriller, it does get you where you need to go in a hurry. Whether you’re riding from EPCOT to Magic Kingdom or doing a Seven Seas Lagoon loop, the Monorail always delights.
Since the Monorail doesn’t necessarily bring the thrills, you’re guaranteed a great experience and a smooth ride. You’re more likely, however, to reach higher speeds when going from the transportation center to EPCOT and on other straightways. If you’re doing the “loop” you are less likely to go too fast.
Expedition Everest – 50 MPH
Who would have thought that Expedition Everest goest slower than the Monorail. Well, now you know. And so do we. The fastest and tallest ride in Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest goes up to 50 MPH but can feel much faster than that. With large drops up to 200 feet and high-speed thrills, this modern yet old-school coaster is a thriller and so much fun.
Whether or not we get to see the titular Yeti, this is one of the fastest Disney World rides. Additionally, the ability to go backwards makes Expedition Everest even more thrilling.
Splash Mountain – 45 MPH
The fastest ride in Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain is a great ride and so much fun! Even with the changes coming with the new Princess and the Frog theming, we can expect the speed to stay the same. 90% of the ride is fairly tame but the final drop is fast and thrilling.
While the drop is over before you know it, the drop is just as thrilling as the fastest ride in the most Magical Place on Earth. Hop on while you still can before the refurbishments come and Splash Mountain closes down.
Slinky Dog Dash – 40 MPH
Without a doubt Slinky Dog Dash is one the most popular rides in Hollywood Studios. Boasting consistent wait times of over an hour, Slinky Dog Dashes up to 40 MPH, making it the perfect family ride. While guests do need to be 38″+ to ride, this family coaster still provides enough thrills and excitement while being a great intro coaster.
Watch out for that second launch, that’s when things turn out to get really exciting.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 40 MPH
Hollywood Studios is home of some of the fastest Disney World rides. The controlled drop offers a great and thrilling experience of about 40 MPH. Of course, the thrills of Tower of Terror aren’t so much in the drop as it is in the anticipation of the drop. Either way, this is such a great ride and is also one of the most popular rides in the park. Definitely ranking top 3 rides in not number one.
