BREAKING NEWS: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Coming to Disney in 2024
In June 2020, Disney announced the complete reimagining of Splash Mountain to an all-new Princess and the Frog-themed experience. Today we got the news form the D23 team that this ride has a time and an opening timeline. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is coming to Disney Parks (Magic Kingdom and Disneyland) in 2024.
Disney announced the new attraction name at the New Orleans for the ESSENCE Festival of Culture™ presented by Coca-Cola®. This brand new experience won’t be open and ready to ride until late 2024.
Imagineers at Walt Disney are preserving the soul of New Orleans by making frequent research trips to Louisiana. These trips helped capture the heart of the French Markets, the bayou, and culture of the region.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Coming to Disneyland and Magic Kingdom in Late 2024!
According to Imagineers, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure “… is a love letter to New Orleans. Like the musical city that inspired this attraction, Tiana’s second act is about a community working in harmony to achieve something extraordinary. She reminds us of an immutable truth we can all relate to: ‘If you do your best each and every day, good things are sure to come your way.’ And that’s a melody we can all sing along to!”
At the celebration panel, guests were shown a live art demonstration from the YAYA Arts Center. Disney Parks has worked closely with this organization and commissioned artwork from Sharika Mahdi. Likewise, a performance by Jenifer Lewis (the voice of Mama Odie) played a part in the live presentation.
One of the main head scratchers is when Splash Mountain will officially close down. At this time, there is no definite date or even time table. However, we can be sure that Disney will let us know so Splash Mountain fanatics can say goodbye to Brer Rabbit and friends.
