Disney World Construction

The Latest Disney World Construction Updates

Summer is here and the summer crowds have flooded Disney World. Of course, there is so much to do and see in the parks including new attractions, restaurants, and even some shops. However, if you’re on your way to the Most Magical Place of Earth anytime this summer, you might want to be aware of the latest Disney World construction updates.

Tron Lightcycle

Magic Kingdom Construction

TRON: Lightcycle Run might feel like it’s taking forever and a day to arrive but it is coming. There are a lot of trucks and equipment that have moved in this week. This tells us that work is moving along but we still don’t have an opening date.

The Walt Disney World Railroad has been put on hold for a time because of the TRON coaster construction. Progress, however, is happening. In the last few weeks we have seen some new tracks laid in the Fantasyland Station. We can’t wait for this to reopen.

Head over to Main Street, U.S.A. and you’ll see some walls in front of Center Street. We’re not 100% sure what is going on back there, but we’ll be keeping an eye out on it.

EPCOT Construction

With the impending approach of the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, we’ve seen a handful of booths begin to pop up. Most of these are booths are unmarked. We do know that the Food and Wine Festival begins on July 14th and, in the meantime, we’ll keep an eye out for more booths.

Since EPCOTs massive overhaul announcement at D23, we have been so excited for the Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana. Right outside of Spaceship Earth, we have seen some crews still clearing out large areas and working continually. Additionally, this space will be home to the upcoming CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza.

Hollywood Studios Construction

Pop on over to Toy Story Land and you’ll see the Toy Story Mania Gift Shop is under construction. Currently, guests are routed through a detour upon exiting the ride. We’re not sure yet what the details of this Disney World construction project will include, but it should be very fun.

In Galaxy’s Edge, Disney’s team can be seen installing control panels throughout Batuu. These control panels will include interactive activities with the upcoming MagicBand+ devices. The official name is Batuu Bounty Hunters. This should be a really fun activity slated to be available late summer 2022.

Disney Resort Construction

There’s a whole lot of scaffolding up a the Big Pine Key building at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Over 200 brand new Disney Vacation Club Villas will be showing up later this summer. Reservations are open now.

The final Disney World construction project that we currently see is at the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We can expect to see new DVC rooms, incredible restaurants, and some exciting gift shops.
